Emporio Solidale: A concrete response to the needs of the area

The Emporio Solidale was born as a place of support and promotion for people and families in difficulty, offering not only essential goods but also an opportunity for meeting, accompaniment, and growth. The initiative is part of the core educational and social mission of the Istituto Maria Ausiliatrice of Alì Terme, in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Messina, Caritas Parrocchiale, and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians.

Training Pathways: Charity and Territory

To strengthen the effectiveness of the Emporio and build a strong network of aware volunteers, training pathways have been set up for operators, educators, catechists, and volunteers. The training cycle Charity & Territory is divided into three days of two hours each, focusing on three main areas:

Theological-Pastoral: to rediscover the value of charity in the Christian vision;
Operational: to share objectives, roles, and goals of the Emporio;
Methodological: to build an effective, clear, and shared model of action.

During the meetings, practical aspects such as organisation, internal regulations, and collaboration with Caritas Listening Centres are also addressed, in a spirit of synergy and service to the area.

Complementary services: beyond material help

The Emporio Solidale does not limit itself to distributing food or essential goods. It is also an educational and relational space that offers:

Listening and personalised support;
Orientation to local services;
Initiatives for inclusion and human promotion;
Activities for autonomy and personal empowerment.

Through active participation, the people welcomed become part of a supportive community, based on respect, responsibility, and co-responsibility.

Where and When?

The meetings of the training course take place at the Saloncino Madre Morano, within the Istituto Maria Ausiliatrice of Alì Terme, in Via Lungomare.

The planned dates for 2024 are: 18 March, 8 April, 22 April, 6 May, 20 May, from 18:00 to 20:00.

Headquarters of the Italian Rescue Corps of the Order of Malta (CISOM)

Inside the spaces of the Emporio Solidale, there is also the local headquarters of the Italian Rescue Corps of the Order of Malta (CISOM), a Melitensian law foundation committed to civil protection, health and social assistance, humanitarian interventions, and international cooperation. The presence of CISOM enriches the support network offered to the community, promoting a culture of solidarity and care for the most vulnerable people, in line with the Salesian values of service and proximity.
